Tobiko - Single Container
Tobiko - Single Container
Tobiko, the roe of flying fish, is the secret weapon of many great sushi chefs. These tiny, crunchy beads are prized for their satisfying "pop" and a mild, slightly salty flavor that enhances, but never overwhelms, other ingredients. While smaller and firmer than ikura, tobiko's texture is a key reason for its popularity, adding a fantastic mouthfeel to sushi rolls, sashimi, and other seafood dishes.
Our premium tobiko is available to purchase as single units of any of the four colors. For those who want to get creative and have all the colors at their fingertips, we also offer a convenient variety pack that includes all four colors at a great value.
We offer a range of premium tobiko in four distinct colors, each bringing a unique twist to your culinary creations. While the base flavor remains consistent, the color variations are achieved through natural ingredients that impart subtle, yet distinct, flavors.
- Orange Tobiko: This is the classic, naturally colored tobiko. It offers a clean, mildly salty and slightly sweet flavor, making it the most versatile and popular choice for a wide variety of sushi rolls and seafood preparations.
- Green Tobiko: Infused with wasabi, our green tobiko delivers a subtle, zesty kick that adds a hint of heat and a beautiful color contrast. It's a fantastic way to introduce a touch of spice without overwhelming your palate.
- Black Tobiko: Colored with squid ink, black tobiko has a deep, briny flavor that is a bit more savory than the others. Its dramatic color adds an elegant touch, making it a sophisticated garnish for nigiri and high-end appetizers.
- Red Tobiko: Made with the essence of red chili peppers, our red tobiko offers a delicate, smoky heat. It's a great choice for those who enjoy a little spice and want to add a fiery visual element to their dishes.

Ikura vs. Tobiko
Ikura vs. Tobiko
While both are popular fish roes, ikura and tobiko are distinctly different, each bringing a unique character to the table.
- Size and Texture: The most noticeable difference is size. Ikura are large, pearl-like beads, about 5-7 millimeters in diameter, with a soft, juicy membrane that bursts easily. Tobiko, on the other hand, is the much smaller roe of flying fish, with a firm, crunchy texture that provides a satisfying, crisp "pop."
- Flavor Profile: Ikura offers a bold, rich, and oily flavor with a pronounced salmon taste. Its robust character makes it a centerpiece ingredient. Tobiko has a milder, sweeter, and more subtle flavor, often used for its texture and color to complement other ingredients in a dish.
- Color: Ikura is naturally a vibrant, translucent reddish-orange. Tobiko is also naturally orange but is often dyed with ingredients like wasabi, yuzu, or squid ink to create a variety of colors, such as green, red, or black.

I paid for 2 day shipping $56.00 Apparently it sat in a fed ex truck for 1 day and it arrived 3 days and was completely bad- actually HOT ! E mailed the company said they would ship it again - I asked why not just over night since it wasn’t my fault- and they said because I paid for 2 day that’s what I will get- that rubbed me the wrong way - I cancelled the order and they refunded me back quickly- found another place w 2 day for $20.00 and it worked out great - Oh well!
Haven't tried it yet. Will make sushi this weekend.
The Tobiko was great! Thanks.
