Meet The Owners

Founded in 1989 by Monte and Yibing Rome, Intershell is a testament to the power of self-made entrepreneurship. Monte's journey in the seafood industry began in the 1970s, where he built a network and ran small startups, delivering steamers and surf clams across Cape Cod, Boston, and Gloucester, MA.

After settling in Gloucester and launching Intershell, Monte and Yibing became well-known within the local community and the broader seafood industry. Today, the business remains family-owned, with their daughter, Rose Rome, joining full-time in 2018 after completing her college degree.

For over 30 years, Intershell has proudly delivered premium seafood. What began as a small operation has grown into a leading wholesale, processing, and distribution company with deep ties to local fishermen and coastal communities.
